We're a bit slow to celebrate World Turtle Day but we are featuring one of the rarest reptiles in the world: the McCord's box turtle! 🐢 This species was first discovered in Asian turtle markets in the 1980s. The majority of its natural history was then obtained much later from the locals who spotted these turtles in the wild. McCord's box turtles are native to a limited area in the Guangxi Province of China and have suffered tremendously from being taken from their homes to be sold into the pet
