Try reaming your cork grips before you glue. Instead of leaving your cork rings the .250" inside diameter they come and glueing them up on a 1/4" CRB Steel Turning Mandrel, ream each cork ring (a few at a time) to fit one of the bigger 5/16" to 7/16" Mandrels. You'll be fighting less hardened glue when you ream your finished grip to size and you can start with a bigger reamer, making it easier.
