Despite his extensive success and numerous accolades, the director has revealed that he was repeatedly rejected from directing James Bond movies, something that he strongly wanted to do at one point.

His uniqueness as a director isn't because there aren't talented directors working today — there absolutely are — it's because Spielberg is one of the last directors whose name alone can sell a movie.
